Yoga during DLP!

On the CAS activity day, I decided to choose Yoga as my activity because I have been experiencing tension in my upper back and neck which is why I wanted to do a deep stretch so that I could relieve the tension to some extent and start my day off better. I took up this opportunity to try out a new platform for Yoga videos recommended by Ms. Ali called ‘Yoga with Adrienne’.  After my experience, I’d also say that it is a really good platform for any level of yoga. It is helpful and the instructor goes at a speed where anyone would be comfortable and also be able to follow all asanas. This set of exercises were mostly seated cross-legged and they focused on getting a deep stretch in the neck, arms, and upper back. I also did a few asanas and stretches at the end on my own such as th down dog and pigeon pose which just help me stretch and relax my muscles after any yoga session. I really felt the stretch in my hamstrings when I reached for my toes and that was because I hadn’t stretched out in a while. This reminded me to become consistent with yoga because it not only helps me keep my form but also is key for a dancer who wants to get better at core balance etc.  Later on in the day, I also went on a 30-minute walk on the rooftop with my dad which also helped me be active and exercise my legs because we sit and attend class and meetings the whole day and barely get to stretch out properly which is why this day was fairly productive. I have attached a video of my yoga session towards the end which sums up this day of activity for me. Yoga also helps me be mindful and doing it right at the beginning of a full day of meetings and school-related work is truly a game-changer.

CAS Learning Outcomes reflection:

In terms of my CAS LO’s, This CAS Experience involves I have learned that I need to exercise more and especially do Yoga more to become better at dancing and have more core balance(LO1), Engagement in fitness itself is a step towards the betterment of even the UN SDGs because health and fitness is a global issue which more people need to engage in(LO6), I have also shown regular engagement in this through the IB-well days and our initial CAS padlet days and also my mediation is a form of yoga because I practice breathing exercise such as breath-a-fire for the better functioning of organs(LO4).
