The Countdown to Christmas!

Christmas just brings the happiness so needed this year.  Me and my sister couldn’t wait for Christmas and our countdown began mid-October. From online Christmas shopping to decorating our Christmas tree,  we started brainstorming ideas very early. We also got questions like, isn’t it a bit too early? or are you Christian? but it’s never too early for Christmas and for us, you don’t have to be from the religion to celebrate the festival! Just like Diwali and Holi, Christmas is equally as close to my heart. We painted our nails so that we could look extra festive because there is nothing wrong with being a little extra! me and my sister took on the responsibility to decorate the Christmas tree and we thoroughly enjoyed that. I made a time-lapse showing the Christmas tree decorating process. Here it is!

I also painted a Christmas tree on my nails, so here is a picture of that! and since our Christmas tree is white, I decided to do the Christmas tree on my nails, white as well.

[My festive nails!]
Me and my sister made a Christmas reel for an online store called The Wildflower Society. They wanted to promote the festive spirit and since my sister is friends with them, she did the filming and I took care of the decorative side and making the house feel as festive as possible. We decorated 2 trees, one in the living room and one in my room, and both with different themes.  The Wildflower Society sells small items such as scrunchies, postcards, stickers, and they are based in India.  Although the reel can only be seen on Instagram and isn’t visible to people in Sri Lanka because of the feature not being available on Instagram in Sri Lanka. Although, it can be seen from anywhere else in the world! Since it is not available on Instagram in Sri Lanka, Here is a small snippet of the reel to get everyone in the Christmas spirit!

Cooking is always a part of the festivities! This is why I was inpired to make  2 batches of Lasagna, on the 24th of December to celebrate. I made lasagna for the first time and it turned out to be really good. I had to use my own recipe because my father is vegetarian and there are a few recipes on the internet which have ingredients that are even accessible in supermarkets. I ended up brainstorming the recipe myself and it turned out to be a challenge but it was very worth it. I used tofu, bell peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, basil sauce, and lasagna sheets. I gave one batch of Lasagna to our neighbors on the 14th floor, and they were very happy and they gave positive reviews as well! That made me very happy and a little sense of knowing how to cook. I served the lasagna with the side of my mayonnaise sauce in which I added, Italian seasoning, hot sauce, and some pepper. It goes really well with the lasagna and adds  extra flavour!

I leart a lot through these several CAS Activities. Even being at home and celebrating Christmas can be fun! I learnt how to make lasagna and a reel on Instagram. To vastly different yet engaging and fun activities. Painting my nails especailly the Christmas tree took a few tries and required patience but at the end of the day, I managed to make it look like a Christmas tree. I worked collaboratively with my sister to decorate the Christmas tree and make the reel. she taught me the different camera angles and how the reel can look more aesthetic. I hope to learn more from up coming CAS activities. I hope you have a great holiday season so far And with that I wish you a  Merry Christmas!

The CAS Learning outcomes involved in this CAS experience are; LO1, LO2, LO3, LO4 & LO5.
