Dance workouts!

During DLP, and even in general it is very important to stay fit. Especially as a dancer, we need to keep moving so our movements are soother and our core is more balanced and strong. My Activity goal is to work on my lower body and make sure that I am fit to dance. Dancing requires a lot of lower body strength and balance. The dance form that I am currently learning is Salsa Ballroom which is basically based on lower body and agility. In Salsa, a lot of moves are fast and tricky which is where calf muscles are important. Holding a pose requires balance where the core comes in.  I do various other dance forms such as Kathak, contemporary, and Hip-hop and all of them require a strong core and lower body. Specifically speaking, the quads and hamstrings play a big role in contemporary because many movements are based on leaping and jumping which require a lot of lower body strength. The landing of the jumps requires immense balance. The spinning in Kathak requires one’s core to be very strong as well as the calf muscles. Which is why I am working on my lower body and developing strength.  Today I did a dance workout which basically means that an instructor instructs you to work out on the beat. This is very fun for me and discovered it in quarantine. This was about 10 minutes long and I took a 2-minute hydration break in the middle. This workout helped me work on my Calf muscles, glutes, quads, hamstrings, and core. Mid-way through the first workout, I could feel the burn in my quads and that made me realize that I haven’t been active enough in the past few weeks. I plan on regularly staying active and working out because it is a great way to clear my mind of all the workload and really do things I love such as dancing. This workout was super fun and I will carry on doing these because it helps me stay active and as I love to dance, it is interesting for me. The CAS learning outcomes involved in this CAS experience are LO1, LO2 & LO4. I have attached time-lapses of my workouts below with links to the workouts I followed.
