The academic year is coming to an end. Thus, I will be reflecting on this year, especially CAS:

CREATIVITY

My primary sources for creativity were completely new, as I hadn’t participated in many creative activities prior to this year (LO#2). The Advocate (a literary magazine) and SGA (Student Government Association). In the Advocate, I primarily edited and organized the magazine. I also put in my own photos and media in this as a part of the Advocate. Moreover, I am now the leader of Advocate as the previous leader (Virath) graduated. Furthermore, as a part of the SGA, I’ve participated and coordinated some creative projects, such as the Horror House, organizing the OSCars (which sadly was canceled).

In all of these new activities, I’ve had to demonstrate commitment (LO#4) and collaboration. For example, I’ve meetings every Wednesday and Friday for the SGA and Advocate, and sometimes more depending on how busy we are. As both the SGA and Advocate require group work to be successful, I’ve also been actively communicating and collaborating with people (LO#5).

Due to COVID-19, I am also partaking in Photoshop courses to increase my skills and make some interesting designs as well.

A fun-side project made by the author (through help from online resources).

Reflecting on the year as a whole, I’ve developed some new skills organizing the Advocate and being a part of the SGA, and there’s a clear improvement compared to before, as before as I wasn’t as invested in Creative impacts and thus this was an area open for improvement (LO#1), and there’s been a lot of progress.

ACTION

My primary source of Action this year was SAISA Track and Field (international track meet). For that, I was a long-distance runner and trained intensely to earn points and get PRs for my races. In the actual SAISA meet, I did very well, getting PRs in all my events, and placing in the top 6 for nearly all of them as well. I was planning on partaking in SAISA Football, however,  that wasn’t possible to due COVID-19 either.

Thus, I am keeping fit by doing bodyweight workouts at home (jump rope, pushups, squats etc.) Compared to the previous year, I am much more fitter. Whilst it is hard to progress with just home workouts, I am still maintaining my level of fitness and hope to increase my level of fitness as well.

SERVICE

For service, I’ve been partaking in Gecko Net. In Gecko Net, I’ve primarily been taking and recording media for other activities and organizations taking place at our school. Moreover, we’ve been making videos recapping and raising awareness about said events.

Due to COVID-19, I’ve been partaking in service at home by tutoring my sister and helping with cooking. Moreover, my peers and I have taken initiative to organize a Zoomathon to raise awareness for COVID-19 (LO#3). The coronavirus has been having a huge negative impact locally (on Sri Lanka) and globally and thus is a global issue of extreme significance; one such impact being that many underprivileged kids are unable to access education, and many people are out of jobs. As such, this Zoomathon is being done to raise awareness for all the plight caused by COVID-19, along with how to help (LO#7).
