This was my first year taking part in the Advocate (a literary magazine made by our school). It is quite an interesting experience, advocating to people about sending a submission in the Advocate, and then editing all the submissions (photos, poetry, and prose) into a PDF, which can then be given to a publisher the school is in contact with.

As a member of the editing team in the Advocate, we made quite a few changes from last year. One of the major changes was that last year only prose and poetry was allowed, but this year photography was welcome as well. Furthermore, we had the most submissions with photography (including my photo, as seen in the cover of this post), with a few people being passionate enough to submit more than once. Also, we decided to give a prize to the best piece of prose, poetry and photography (as decided by our judges) along with featured pages on our magazine.

Through this new experience, I address the CAS learning outcome 2, as this is my first ever experience in editing a magazine. Moreover, I also address learning outcome 5 as I need to work with a variety of teachers, and students (submitting and editors) to successfully make this magazine. I also address learning outcome 7, as I ensured that judges who requested had names of the contestants removed due to fear of subconscious bias.
