Badminton Physical Training

For the next SAISA season, I am going to try out for the SAISA Badminton team again but aiming to try and get into the A-Team this year. Last year I also tried out for the badminton team and got into the B-Team, it was my first time playing badminton competitively so I wasn’t really that skilled. This winter I have been continuing swimming at the OVAL Sports Complex, located in Okayama-shi, I am not only swimming to keep up my time for swimming but also to strengthen my body.

I was in Japan for 2 weeks and ever since I arrived at Okyama-shi, I have been training every day with no rest, 11km 4 times a week and 6km 3 times a week just swimming in the morning and night. What really makes the big difference swim training in OVAL compared to in Sri Lanka is that the pool is indoor which is heated during the whole year which makes it harder for training. During the water is also heated so it makes the training even harder as your body is just warm the whole time and it made it hard for me to breathe after every set I swam. The training was helping my stamina and some muscle, but in order for me to build my stamina and leg muscle more for the days, I didn’t have morning swimmings I would run 2-6km.

I have only been doing physical training for badminton but not the skill part of badminton, so I am right now looking for a coach to help with the skill part.
