This year the IISSC was set-up differently where all the boy’s events were done on the Saturday except for the 4x50m Free-style relay which was on Sunday, luckily for me, I only had my individual events and 4x50m Medley relay all on Saturday as I did not sign up for the 4x50m Free-style relay.

The age group I was in was the Boys Under 20, my individual events I had the 200m Individual Medley and 100m butterfly.

Placed 3rd overall in the 200m IM, this was the first time I had got an individual medal in the Inter-International Schools Swimming Competition as this is competition is way harder than SAISA swimming. In the IISSC there are Sri Lankan National swimmers like in the race of the 200m IM, the first place and second place are both national swimmers who I first met when I was in Killer Whale Aquatics club.

For the 100m Butterfly, I wasn’t able to get a very good time as butterfly is not my best stroke, and I did it just for a try. I managed to place 4th overall behind three national swimmers so I was happy for the outcome.

In the 4x50m Medley relay, Karven started off with backstroke leading in 4th, then I jumped in for breaststroke where I was able to get us up to 3rd, then Ritheek swam butterfly catching us up near to the first place and Jack went in as anchor for freestyle increasing the lead away from Lyceum Wattala. We came first place overall by 2 seconds ahead of second-place in the relay, receiving the gold.

However, for the overall schools we came 11th out of 18 other schools with 3 golds, 3 silvers, 3 bronzes.
