Jordan in 4K! What my camera saw

All the images that are featured in this post were taken by the “one-pixel” smartphone camera that belongs to the author. The photographs are grouped in ascending order and reflect my travel from Sri Lanka to Jordan and back. I traveled to Jordan to compete in the SAISA swimming competition, in which our school was placed third overall. I have always been fascinated by the concepts of photography, taking the best shot, adjusting the light, taking the picture from the right angle, and hence, I decided to document my journey. Jordan, an Arab country on the Jordan River’s east bank, is known for its ancient sites, nature reserves, and seaside resorts. It is home to the well-known archaeological site of Petra. Although we did not visit Petra, we were able to explore the architectural and historical attractions in and surrounding Amman. The ability to visit the Dead Sea was the highlight of the trip. My entire body felt lighter the instant I entered the water of the Dead Sea. Despite my best efforts, I ended up kicking the air rather than the water.  It was a soothing sensation that washed away the stresses of the day as I floated like a log in the middle of a salty sea. The ariel bird’s eye view of the city from above was simply breathtaking. The remnants of Roman buildings only served to remind me of what a magnificent civilization must have thrived in Jordan in the past. The excellent drinking water and sewage system, a significant invention of the Romans, was also a key component in Amman’s old city. Overall, the vacation to Jordan was a novel and unforgettable experience. A country having a different culture, a different history, a different climate, different art heritage, and mouth-watering delicacies and snacks than my home country of Sri Lanka.
