DP2 CAS GOALS

Last year’s DP1 year was difficult, with days of school alternately held online and on campus. Although the year began with the distance learning program, we were able to return to school during the month of January. However, later on in the year, we missed a lot of service sessions because the school had to close in the midst of the many protests held in Sri Lanka as a result of the ongoing economic and political crisis, whose ripples, although fading, still affects many of the Sri Lankan people. This year, DP2, and our final year of high school, however, appear to be optimistic, with infinite prospects awaiting us. At the start of this school year, I made a firm commitment to participate in numerous afterschool and other school events in order to have a memorable senior year in high school before moving on to university.

Having done swimming as a sport for most of my childhood, starting from the age of seven, due to the cancellation of training caused as a result of covid, I have had to completely stop my participation in this sport during the past three years. Hence I have lost momentum in it. Therefore, I decided to take up swimming as an afterschool activity on Mondays and Fridays, and also decided to join SAISA, and represent the geckos in the upcoming swimming SAISA meet that will be held in Jordan. I am certain that engaging in a sports activity will surely help me balance my learning, culminating in a more fruitful high school experience, through interaction with other friends with similar interests.

Moreover, to increase my service impact, I decided to become the president of the Eco-schools, service group. I wish to accelerate our efforts towards getting that long-awaited green flag and finally become the first school in Sri Lanka, that has the title of an ” Eco-school”. During the service sessions, I wish to collaborate with the other members, participate in group projects including clean-up initiatives, stick up to our action plan, and spread awareness on climate change and the need for reducing, reusing, and recycling, through the many eco-tips posts on social media sites like the Official OSC eco-schools Instagram page (one of my initiatives in DP1), and through the OSC facebook page. In addition to the above-mentioned activities, I also wish to become a part of the student SGA, here at OSC, to improve my leadership skills, and I also plan to contribute to the designing of this year’s school yearbook. Through all these activities, which would help bring many more interactions with new friends,  I hope to have a memorable senior year in high school.
