To walk in nature is to witness a thousand miracles- WWW Highlands part I

Inorder to refelect on our journey to the central highlands of Sri Lanka, our group, which consisted of Lucca, James(DP1), John, James(MYP5), and me, decided to create a poster on canva as we thought it was the best way to include many deatils of our learning outcome while also keeping it attractive to one’s eyes. The learning outcome that we focused on was LO2, which was how we demonstrated that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. The entire Week without wall trip to the highlands challenged our physical strength and our perseverence. Hiking through the dense emeral green jungles of the Kirigalpotha mountain at Horton plains required a great degree of perseverence and determination as we had to hike on a really narrow pathway that was enshrouded in short thorny trees on either sides and filled with slippery rocks. Although the hike to the peak of the second highest mountain in Sri lanka took us around 3 hours to complete, the breathtaking view of the surrounding plains and mountains made it absolutely worth it. The view at the top was mesmerizing and absolutely wonderful. The surrounding mountain ranges seemed like a bright jungle green carpet studded with rare lime green gems. The sight of the Piduruthalagala mountain, whose peak was above the dense cloud forests in the far distance, the sight of the sacred Adam’s peak , and the sight of the mellow brown plains below us was so beautiful that it made me gasp in awe. Hiking to the top of the mountain was definitely tiring, and it really did make my knees and legs scream with pain later on in the day, but the long, hard, but beautiful hike through the plains transformed me into a much more resilient, collaborative and stronger person. I believe that this hike helped to strengthen the friendship and bonds that I had with my friends, and it also made me appreciate and protect the beauty that nature actually has to offer. This trip made me realize that you do not always have to be close to technology to feel happy and enjoy yourself, instead nature has a wide array of things to offer as a thrilling and unforgettable mode of entertainment.

Learning outcomes from the poster:

LO2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

The main objective of this poster is to highlight the second learning outcome that is stated above. We believed that this was the learning outcome that affected us most during the entire week without walls experience. We faced many challenges when hiking and we faced them bravely and resiliently.
