“Empathy is seeing with the eyes of another, listening with the ears of another and feeling with the heart of another.” – Alfred Adler
As a service group, we wanted to lead an Advisory on April 3, 2019 for MYP1 on Empathy and Communication because we collectively concluded that it is one of the most important life skills to have and the students of MYP1 are perfectly capable of understanding our objectives and make the most of the learnings from a very young age. We immediately started working on making proposals for the MYP1 advisors, along with Ms. Fleming and when we presented our ideas to them, we received an overwhelmingly positive response from all of them.
Sarah and I had volunteered to lead the advisory for Ms. Francemone and Ms. Mora. We started setting up during lunch and as we were done, it was time for us to start our session. We started off by explaining why we were there and took them through the course of activities that we had planned for them.
After we were done, we concluded by reminding them that we are ready to help them whenever they need it. The response was stupendous, and we were invited to lead another advisory by both of the advisors. Just being able to share ideas and communicate with all of them was an amazing experience. We have planned a lot more for them and I cannot wait to go back and do it one more time.
