This year’s book week celebrations were held from February 17th to 21st. Book week is celebrated to show appreciation for literature and as a part of book week, 21st February is Mother Language Day. This is celebrated to appreciate the plethora of languages spoken around the world. After watching people share beautiful prose and poetry from their mother language in the morning, our French AB Initio class volunteered to spend some more time with the French kids from primary school while reading out books to them and talking to them.
This was an educational experience more than anything else because I could learn so much more by just talking to native french speaking children in their own mother tongue and reading out to them while they would try and correct our pronunciations 🙂 I really wish I could do this for other language groups as well because of my avid interest in learning languages.
