For this post I want to talk to you all about some of my service goals continued. Near the end of the break, our supervisor Mrs. Manushi brought up an idea and goal that she wanted us as a group to start working on. This goal was to create a podcast for RCCI and after discussion we shortened it to be a somewhat lengthy video (maybe 10 minutes) which entails the members of RCCI giving explanations of their experience at RCCI, what they’ve learned, maybe some other facts about RCCI and maybe also clips of us spending time with the kids. The reason why we are really trying to make this happen is because our service is recognized in the school community however over the years the urgency of helping the RCCI students has lowered severely which means that there is a lack of awareness in the school. Hence the main goal of this video is to raise awareness for RCCI. A secondary goal would be to raise awareness of RCCI not just at school but for anyone who would be interested in it by putting it online not just sharing it solely with the school. This was our advisor, Mrs. Manushi’s idea. If all goes planned hopefully this will be completed by the end of the 2020-2021 school year.

This is only one of our many goals in RCCI as we are taking steps to planning a different schedule so that the kid’s don’t get bored doing the same things. However the schedule won’t be completely different as after contacting previous members of RCCI, I have learned that the kids that come here enjoy spending time with us and they like doing what we currently do because it’s what they look forward to doing each week on Thursday afternoons. We want to be able to let them do what they like, hence we won’t change everything we do however we might add some new activities. To achieve this we have set aside roles for each member in which we gather materials and make sure everything is prepped so that when we start service again in semester 2, we will be ready to go.

Another goal that I have with this service is to remake the website for RCCI possibly with Lithira. The previous website was made using WIX however it cannot be edited because the previous creator of the website made the website on an account only accessible to themselves hence future RCCI members such as myself are not able to update it. Hence the goal is to recreate the website with most likely wix. If all goes as planned, our new revised table for the lessons will be on the website alongside newer pictures and the video we plan on creating by the end of the school year. Learning Outcomes Achieved:

LO3 – As we can see here, we planned out the days of our service meets when we would return to school and be able to interact with the RCCI kids. We planned out the activities and the equipment required in order to accomplish the goals of each class

LO5 – We all worked collaboratively and shared our views on how the lesson plans currently are for RCCI. We talked about how we should change up the activities as we keep on doing the same things, and I had also proposed that we should let the kids choose as they come to our school to enjoy, hence we should let them do what they like to.
