The COVID situation in Sri Lanka had drastically improved, and thus we (DP1 and DP2) were physically going to the school campus. However, there was a second wave of COVID, and we are back to online learning. Despite all of this, I’ve been trying to keep up with CAS (Creativity, Activity, and Service).

Regarding service, going out to do service isn’t feasible, and hasn’t been feasible for a while. Consequently, I’m continuing to tutor my sister, specifically in Maths. This has been beneficial as she gets immediate feedback on any work she does, and can quickly clear any doubts she has. Moreover, I’ve been in touch with Ms. Fert (my french teacher), and we are making plans to possibly tutor some younger students in French (through the use of online platforms such as Zoom, Quizlet, Kahoot, and so forth) (LO#5).

For activity, I’d started playing non-competitive volleyball and basketball in school. This was a fun way to stay active and interact with my peers. However, this has been temporarily paused due to the coronavirus. Once school opens back up, I’ll resume this and also sign up for any SAISA (South Asian Inter-Scholastic Association) sports the school offers to keep active (LO#3).

Nonetheless, keeping my CAS goals in mind (LO#4), I had continued working out at home, as a way to stay fit. For context, my goals were to linearly improve my times and weights used (LO#1), which I’ve been doing (e.g. my 5K times have reduced from 23 minutes to 21.5 minutes).

In conclusion, whilst the coronavirus has made it difficult to follow certain parts of CAS, I’m still actively mindful of any CAS opportunities.
