Future plans for service and older experiences

I haven’t had a lot of service experience in the past other than NAHS, National Art Honour Society, in my old school. NAHS is an organisation for helping those in need by collecting money through art and sending it to them directly, or spending that money on what they are lacking. Throughout the year many events are planed in the school, giving all students a chance to help by buying artworks made by the members. For example, for Christmas the members made various winter themed stickers, which had a lot of success. Many don’t know, but the number one necessity that the homeless lack are socks. Therefore, the money raised was used to buy socks for the homeless.

However it isn’t always just through money that our NAHS group helped people. We also volunteered to make Christmas cards and send them to children in hospitals (during Covid), to paint fences in animal shelters, and even paint an old mural in our school.

Unfortunately due to Covid many events and plans were cancelled.

I plan on dedicating my time to service, especially as it becomes more introduced to me through school. It’s important that schools look at service activities and activate students to participate as much as possible, because it is one of the most effective ways of making a change and inspiring everyone else to do the same. Service helps me notice how lucky and unlucky some people are, so I am willing to help those who need it most. I would like to be included in a service that allows me to help and provide necessary resources for everyone and take care of nature, as well as animals.
