“When we are on stage, we are in the here and now” – Constantin Stanislavski
That stage that I am talking about is ISTA. ISTA Taps or more formally known International School of Theatre Anthropology is a organization that brings students from all over that globe together to take part in theater workshops called TaPS. I got to know of this program through Mrs. Jackson, and honestly, at first i was pretty skeptical, Mrs. Jackson told us that ISTA if very useful for theater and that i should definitely come on this trip. I thought to myself “am I really cut out for this,” but I took a leap of faith and Signed myself up. i eventually learned that the leap faith I took was one of the best leaps of my life. On the 19th of September 2018, myself and 10 others left Colombo for Hong Kong. we arrived on the 20th of September at 11:00 and we arrived at our hotel and 2:00 pm. We all then settled in and did some shopping towards the end of the day and prepared for the three days of theater workshops coming. on the 21st we began our workshops and our masterclasses. These workshops and masterclasses really pushed the boundaries of my understanding of theater. ISTA really made me as a person understand my self as it made look into my innermost emotions to produce the best form of theater I can. With these theater workshops, i also met friends that I would call family, in reality, the friends that I made within my ensemble and people from school, really was the highlight of the entire trip. These really helped me get comfortable within the program and truly find my self
