Being Creative at Home💫

Learning Crochet from my Mom:

As the school was closed due to the current situation, I decided to engage in certain activities at home to enhance my creativity skills. My mom is well-experienced at Crochet having practiced it throughout the last few years. Hence, I decided to learn Crochet from my mother who was willing to teach me the basics of the activity.

The first step she taught me was handling the needle effectively, precisely how to wrap the thread around the index finger of one hand while holding the needle with the other hand. During those steps, you need to have patience, control and proper coordinations between the two hands and fingers. Later on, my mom taught me how to create a knot around the needle and knit a chain using the thread. Since I am a beginner, the first thing I have to learn was knitting a chain to get first hand experience on the whole exercise. I have developed an interest to engage in this activity after being inspired by the beautiful needle-work creations done by my mother.

After learning the basics, I wanted to learn how to knit a bracelet and so my mom taught me the steps. I was able to create two beautiful bracelets on my own with some help.

Painting in my free time:

My painting 🙂

During my free time, I decided to get creative with paint since I have always had a passion in this field. However, I did not have a particular idea of what to paint, therefore, I decided to let my imagination run-free and paint anything that comes to my mind. In art, I do not confine my self to choosing specific colors or objects to paint, instead I give my self enough freedom in decision-making. I do not consider myself a professional yet I gain a lot of inspiration and motivation from art. Simply put, art makes me feel good. My Visual Arts class is always a good break from the stressful workload from the rest of the subjects as it allows me to explore the limits of my creativity.

Moreover, I have also painted my calculator cover which I was inspired from one of the videos I saw in Instagram, which I thought would be really cool to do since I have all the materials needed.
