COMUN Exco media team
Final video we made for COMUN XXIX
I am a part of the COMUN media team with the company of Thisath, Vinuda, and Vansh. Our objective as the media crew is to take photos and make videos of the comun community. My main job in the crew is taking photos and videos. Thisath will edit these shots and videos taken with a DSLR camera to make the final COMUN video. I have already started taking photos of the exco meeting which happens every Friday from 4 to 5:30. We also held a photo portrait session for the exco group so we can introduce them to do Instagram community.
The main comun event was three days long and was partly held at school and the Monarch Imperial Hotel. On the 4th and 5th of March, the debates were held at school and we had to take pictures and videos of each committee. We would cycle through the different committees and utilize 2 cameras to do the job. I was tasked with the job to take as many videos and photos of the COMUN committees. I do not have a lot of experience in editing and disliked it when studying it in Gecko Net. So my primary role is to handle the camera.
On the final day, I had a huge task of taking videos and photos throughout the day. Thisath was editing throughout the whole day to work on the exco committee and COMUN video for the closing ceremony. He utilized all the clips we took from the 1st and 2nd days of COMUN.
Initiative and planning was a learning outcome that was used throughout the 3 days of filming for COMUN. A challenge we faced as a team was planning the videos we were going to film. For example, the committee videos needed to be ready before the final day so we had to utilize the first 2 days to plan and film. We asked the committee leaders to bring up an idea for how they wanted their video to look like and plan out what they wanted to do. But everyone had different ideas and was taking a long time to bring up a concrete plan. So gecko net decided that it was best to plan it ourselves. We needed to assess and initiate filming so Vinuda and Thisath could have time on the final day to edit the clips. Thankfully we finished filming all the videos on day 2 and was a challenging yet thoughtful experience.
