Sunday Swimming

Day before yesterday was another swimming session with my coach. This long weekend (because of our 3-way conferences on Thursday and Friday) gave me plenty of opportunity to unwind and, most importantly, catch up on my sleep. I also did some academic work and didn’t forget to engage in an activity. That is why I didn’t want to miss my swimming session that weekend.

Swimming is a healthy sport, and it’s also one of my personal favourites to engage in during leisure times. It keeps me incredibly active as one needs to use the entire body to move through water.

Swimming offers its unique benefits, just like any other sport. There is evidence that regular swimming helps prevent serious illnesses like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke (NHS Inform). Additionally, it helps improve flexibility and mobility while also assisting with weight loss. Swimming has numerous health benefits, including stress reduction and mood enhancement. More importantly, it aids with lifestyle balance.

For people of any age, swimming can be regarded as a useful sport. However, swimming lessons stains on your joints compared to other land sports like running or football (NHS Inform). Hence, this can be considered as a popular sport among the elderly.

The session was 2 hours long from 6 to 8 pm. It was neither sunny nor raining nor the water was cold. Hence, I was able to have a good time in the pool. I did practice different swimming techniques including freestyle, backstroke and butterfly.

I intend to continue swimming at least once a week and to get better at it in the future.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1. Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

3. Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

4. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.
