During the first lockdown, I dicovered an app called Balance. Which consists of many guided meditaions related to, Procrastination, stress, anxiety etc. These meditations can be anywhere from 3-10 minutes long. They all have different focuses such as breath focus, body scan, and many others. These truly help with the way we feel before starting our day and after finishing it. I discovered this app because I wanted to make meditation a new habit for me. It is a skill which is very useful in times of stress. The biggest example of it being the stress we all have faced during lockdown. I tried it for the first time in april and it quickly became something that really helped me with my mood and it also helped me focus better and for a longer period of time. It is a skill that has really made a significant difference in my life and daily routine. Manier times when I feel stressed or under pressure, I go back to meditating for at least 5 minutes so that I have a clear mind to start working. Mindful minutes in a day are very important because we constantly think about things we have to get done and that occupies a lot of space and time in our daily lives. Meditating helps me to take a break from that and really check in with myself and how I am feeling. the breathing exercises really help me to think and get more inspiration and motivation to work. I usually tend to stress a lot and that has a negative impact on my mood which is why starting to meditate has really helped me to appreciate the current moment and have a healthy level of stress. This is a habit and a CAS experience that I want to carry on with even beyond the Diploma Programme. As seen in the picture below, I am still learning how to meditate and focus on my breath and control it. I have made it a habit to mediate at least 4 times a week. The CAS learning outcomes involved in This CAS expeirnce are LO1, LO2 & LO4.
