Staying active with horse riding

For two weeks now I’ve been incorporating cardio workouts into my morning routine. I think it has helped me wake up and prepare my body from early in the morning. I noticed how physical activity encourages me to stay motivated and filled with energy at all times. I’m also staying active with after school sports, such as volleyball, and horse riding outside of school.

Today I had a horseback riding lesson. I had a great time connecting with my horse and learning the different techniques of trotting. Within every lesson, a new obstacle or exercise is introduced, this makes the lessons interesting and different each time. Horseriding helps me stay active and leave my house at least twice a week, which meant a lot especially during Covid restrictions.  It also helps me cope with stress because when riding, in order for the horse to be calm and obedient, the rider must be relaxed first.

I really like this psychology, where it shows how close the rider and the horse are but also how the horse listens to the rider.

For the first time today, I was also taught how to clean and take care of the horse in the stable.

We washed the horses using a hose with cold water which seemed to be very enjoyable for the them after a hard training.

After that, I was able to help the workers clean the stalls and feed the horses. While cleaning, it was enjoyable to see the horses free in the arena, eating and playing together.

Learning Outcomes: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken – Learning new techniques in riding is always a challenge, especially because sometimes it feels as if the horse is in charge. So, when learning new speeds, it feels as if I have less control over the horse

Developing new skills in the process – I learned how to take care of the horses by washing them and cleaning their stalls. This teaches me what they require and what kind of care they need.
