SAISA Music 2019 – Kathmandu, Nepal

True… music is an art, however, to me now it is a way of life.

I didn’t know what singing was or how to sing until I came here. I was even awarded a solo part that I auditioned for the song “Homeward Bound”. Which of course came as a surprise.

I started off by reflecting on how I usually perform. Its either acting or singing as part of the role, but purely just singing has always terrified me and I get really insecure and nervous on the stage. Even after doing SAISA there is still remnants of that anxiety that I do feel on the stage, but it is certain that it is much better. We the choir sang a total of six songs from various backgrounds and it is and was amazing.

I learnt that through mistakes only does one truly LEARN. In fact, I learnt this the hard way when I sang the wrong lyrics in the final performance of the solo that I awarded through auditions. This, as a result, shattered my self-confidence for the next 24 hrs, which is natural. I only realised afterwards that I actually managed to sing through even though the words in my mouth got muddled up and powered through, and that takes some level of courage.
