CAS PROJECT: Basketball Shooting and Handles Workshops for SAISA Girls Basketball

With my plans in motion to do my cast project I, unfortunately, was not able to complete it due to the coronavirus epidemic that forced quarantine to be imposed in my country and made me unable to carry out my basketball training program for the female basketball team in my school, and other students who wanted to improve their fundamentals of basketball.

The idea for this project came about when I was talking to the SAISA girls basketball coach, Mr Rosberg who felt that the girls who had a strong defence or lacking fundamentals of dribbling in basketball and shooting, and this was not letting them win games. So I suggested that instead of taking time in their practices to where they’re working on fitness too wasted on the basics that I would take a separate time with the team And work on the basics with them so that they’re better prepared for the games and eventually decides a tournament in the future. Mr Rosberg agreed to be the supervisor for this cast project and we stayed in touch throughout the entire process.  I had emailed the female students regarding their interest in this workout session and made it so that they are free to choose if they want to do it so I got them to sign up. Below are the signup sheet and email.

Hi SAISA Girls Basketball,

My name is Seth and I’m from DP2. I would like to know who would be interested in a Basketball Shooting and Handles Workshop that I would personally run for my CAS project in accordance with what Mr Rossberg wants you girls to improve upon.
My previous experience is that I was the captain of the boys basketball team as well as my teams (School and the club – Brighton Cougars) in the UK, where my school team at the time were the champions in Sussex county cup. I was also briefly on the UK national team, where I trialled and got in and attended the training sessions three weeks prior to arriving at OSC.  I have also attended many summer camps that outline the basics of shooting and ball-handling, so I am confident in my shooting ability.
Please email me back if you are interested so we can set up an appropriate date and time, morning or afternoon is fine. Please note that during these training sessions I would also like to take photos for my CAS blog and if this is an issue please do let me know! Also please let me know if I’ve left anyone off this email.
Thanks,
Seth.

This was to see who was interested as well as the days and times are available to set a schedule on which we would be able to practice certain things and the practise sessions that I had planned were not focus on fitness but focus on controlling the basketball and Basic ballhandling.

As I set the date for the first session, that very day we were imposed with the quarantine and school was dismissed, this was a shame and a letdown. Nevertheless, I hope to teach basketball to more people in the future.
