A Midsummers Nights Dream – Senior Production 2018

In this senior High School production of A Midsummers Nights Dream, written by William Shakespeare I play Puck, also known as Robin Goodfellow.

A Midsummers Nights Dream, in a nutshell, is a comedy that induces a mix of emotions and connection towards characters and the overall, over the top synopsis and storyline.

I believe Puck is one of Shakespeare’s most enjoyable characters. Puck simply put, is a mischievous sprite and Oberon’s servant and jester. Puck is fun-loving and quick-witted – and thanks to this mischievous nature. This is what I believed was going to be the hardest thing to portray. There was also my size to be taken into account. Puck is quite a slim, fit, and agile character, And not of the stocky, big build like me.

Due to the above reasons, going in I had a few goals in mind

A goal that I had for this character is to act like Puck the way the directors, Mrs Rachel Jackson and Mr Trae Hicks wants Puck to be portrayed. Another goal I had is to learn and memorise all my lines so that I am individually successful and that I am compatible with my fellow actors. I would also like to perform to the best of my ability on both performance nights and keep to the script and what was practised to the best of my ability.

I believe that I achieved all these three goals and both performances were a huge success and a hit among the people who watched it! Regardless of the handicaps that I mentioned.
