SAISA Volleyball 2018 and Achieving New Heights

I believed I could fly, even if it was for a little while. unbound by the chains of gravity. Manipulating all the laws of physics for the benefit of my school. “Higher, a little higher”, is the only thought that flows through my mind when I step into that court. The adrenaline rush, now so addictive, that my soul craves the feeling. Those are the feelings I now feel when playing volleyball. Although it didn’t use to feel like that…

The amount of training I put into it was maybe not seen on the court since I did not play a legitimate minute in the five games we played in Nepal. The reason for this is because at this given point in time, even with the training, I was obese and unathletic. This was disappointing to me because I wanted to be part of a winning team. But what made it worse is that we didn’t play proper volleyball our entire time we were there. We did lack in leadership and spirit, but nonetheless, we were a team, rather I should say that at brief moments we were a team, even though I may have not felt like I was truly a part of it.

We arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal, after 12 hours of travelling, taking 2 flights with a layover in Dubai for 4 hours! It was extremely tiring, but at least the Dubai airport had a ‘Krispy Kreme’ shop.😂

I was hosting with Ben Paliyaguru at Tisa Sakya’s parent’s house, who is a student from Lincoln on the Swimming team, who by the way broke multiple records is SAISA swimming! We won our first game and lost the remaining 4.

We arrived back in Sri Lanka in defeat, but with our heads held high on the Monday after the initial travel day.
