The path of making most of (and enjoying) life

DP2 CAS Goals

Last year I had achieved a LOT during my CAS experience from traveling for SAISA volleyball, to acting in the middle school production and winning the Film Fly Australia competition, just to name a few. However, my IB Diploma program is far from over and I still have a whole year ahead of me. Therefore, I need to make new experiences and achieve new feats in the new CAS year. This year I have multiple Goals for Creativity, Action and Service. I seek to try out new activities this year and add new experiences to my IB journey.

Action

This semester I plan to participate SAISA Volleyball as I have in DP 1. I plan to improve my capabilities even further than last year and work on my flaws and weaknesses. While reflecting on my Volleyball capabilities I realise that I need to work on 3 attributes of the game. The first attribute is receiving the ball, regardless of how hard the spike may have been. The second is to work more collaboratively with the Volleyball team seeing as how it was a major drawback in our previous match. I also plan to continuously participate in activity all throughout the year pushing myself in activities such as body conditioning or achieving a new belt in my Karate trainings. I see it as very important to constantly be active as it will not only help my well being, but support my focusing capabilities in the classroom as well as sports can aid in stimulating the brain.

Creativity

Last year, my creativity included activities such as COMUN EXCO and the Senior Production. This year for Creativity, I will participate in the OSC yearbook to further enhance and show my true photoshopping potential as well as learn to collaborate and communicate with my peers to synthesise a great 2019-2020 Yearbook. I hopefully will also be able to participate in the Yearbook cover competition for 2019-2020 and work with Luca again to create another winning Yearbook design.

Service

This year for Service I have decided to leave Gecko Network in hopes of participating in a Service which does not focus on the OSC community but rather that of the local population. Therefore I have decided to participate in the Hope for Kids service group which, is focused on helping and comforting a local children’s hospital. Not only do I know this service will be a new and interesting experience, but i also have somewhat of a personal experience with the issue. My mother had previously recovered from cancer and I know how scary this Cancer is. Therefore, I really hope to go above and beyond to help these children and their families cope with the trauma of cancer. Furthermore, I strive to focus my CAS project to helping the precious Sri Lankan Wildlife conservation efforts and hope to team up with a local organisation and help them in any way possible.

This CAS year will be packed with many different projects and activities, all in the hopes of gaining new experiences and balancing my academic year to achieve a sense of personal well being.
