Update on my CAS goals

It’s been a few months now since I first started CAS, and just as I expected, the journey to where I am today has been very unexpected. With Covid going up and down, and with DP workloads getting higher and higher it’s been hard to find the time for CAS. Thankfully I’ve found support with my friends and family, who’ve helped me come as far as I have today, whether that be through emotional support, or teaching me how to bake! I’ve found many new skills and been given many opportunities to participate in CAS outside of school despite the circumstances, and for that I’m really grateful, knowing that that’s not an option for many people around the world.

Some of my main goals for CAS were to be more creative, spend more time exercising, and participate in more services around Sri Lanka. I think I can say that I’ve managed to do this rather successfully, as I found the time to develop my creative skills, through both film and art, bear in mind that I put more of my creative drive into my artwork for art class as its something I’m genuinely involved in and want to pursue. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t given time to artwork and creativity outside of class, as I’ve also started baking more often, with both family and friends. I’ve also started to exercise a lot more than I used to, I try to exercise at least twice a week on the weekends and either walk the dogs or do some lengths in the pool after school every day. Finally service, this has been the strand I’ve had the most trouble with, the constant shifts from lockdown, to DLP to face-to-face are inconvenience no one needs reminding of. So with that in mind, I don’t think I need to say why it’s been so difficult to participate in service over these last few months. But I have found more online resources that I do plan to share with my peers and give a small presentation about as a small service activity just to help people to act for different causes.

So, what’s the plan moving forward? I want to continue most of what I’m doing, especially since we’re back in DLP, were participating in group activities in my service will be much harder and in general, everything is slowed down on DLP. But this has almost inspired me in a way to do my own service activities, I plan on sharing and shedding some light on some online resources with my tutor group. Right now what’s important for my CAS is just to make sure DLP doesn’t affect my work and slow me down in terms of my ideas for future projects, as whilst now I can’t be as active as I possibly would have wanted to be, I can still find other ways to do these activities online and find alternatives.
