In one of my last posts, I tired out baking and said before the Christmas holidays I would try to bake a Christmas cake, whilst right now it’s after Christmas I did end up managing to bake! We went on a Christmas holiday with some friends from Australia and I learn a few things from them. One easy bake was bark, where you melt chocolate and put it onto some tin foil and then apply some nuts and other smaller treats, then you proceed to freeze it. Whilst this wasn’t the most challenging baking activity it was still fun to collaborate with the other family and take part in some festivities. The more challenging bakes were the raisin Christmas cake and the gingerbread men, it was more of a collaborative effort to make these treats. The gingerbread men were relatively simple and quick to make, making the raisin cake with my mom and another friend was more difficult. I wanted to make sure I got the right consistency for the mix, last time that was something I struggled with and I wanted to make sure this time I got it right. And with a bit of help, i managed to do it right this time! The trick was to not give it to much time mixing or else it becomes more liquidy. It was really fun to tackle something new and challenging with some new friends, whilst also taking some risks in the new area of creativity.
