Louis' CAS Journey

The mystery of human existance lies not in staying alive, but in finding something to live for – Fyodor Dostoevsky

Online RCCI Meeting

Today we met with the people from RCCI online for the first time. We had not previously met in such a way as it was a complicated logistical undertaking that required quite a lot of planning the week before. The week before we coordinated who was in charge of informing the RCCI supervisors, organizing the activity, and made all members aware of what was expected of them.

When on the call, Ms. Manushi played soothing music whilst everyone else muted themselves, and together we drew for about 15 minutes. Most drawings were simple but the activity was a wonderful way to understand one another as the members of the group let themselves out in their drawings. At the end we recorded everyone’s pictures and briefly reflected as a group on the activity, which was by far the most engaging zoom call most of us had done.

I felt that overall this activity was fantastic to understand one another, as with the language barrier communication is highly difficult with the RCCI group, that said, this activity excellently facilitated understanding between us and the group. We were able to learn about the kids through their drawings, and thus link them to our knowledge and understanding of their personalities.

I look forward to doing such activities in the future with the kids, or at least recommending such an activity to the group’s future leader.
