The mystery of human existance lies not in staying alive, but in finding something to live for – Fyodor Dostoevsky

Gecko Factor 2020

Taking part in Gecko Factor 2020 has been a memorable experience in so many ways.

After deciding to audition, my partner and I begun rehearsing our singing act. The process was vigorous but rewarding as we begun to shape our movement and get our cues on time. After our first 3 sessions we managed to achieve consistency in our timing and co-ordination, although slight changes still needed to be made. So far the process had been thoroughly enjoyable as I begun to understand what it meant to be a skilled performer and work alongside other talented artists. We begun to form a team relationship as we practiced, making the process much more enjoyable as we built on each others strengths and improved our performance in doing so.

Before the performance, to ensure that our timing was perfect, we practiced the words backstage with each other, preparing us to face the crowd together. The performance went smoothly, thanks to our intense preparation and almost telepathic understanding of each others movement and timing. After we collectively reflected on how practicing had brought us together, enhanced the experience and molded our performance for the better. Together we formed a team dynamic and through the experience were able to exploit it to enhance our performance.

Unfortunately we did not win.
