My service group, RCCI, for the semester 1 term, made quite some progress. Although we were in DLP for all of it, our supervisor made sur we would not waste the time during service and we spent every service day planning and organizing activities for when we could come back to school and it would be safe for the RCCI kids to come as well.

We spent a lot of time coming up with new ideas and planning these ideas. We made a planning document in which we all contributed to something. We tried being as organized as possible so that when we come back to school, we could get straight to work and not have to worry about organizing the materials we need.

As the whole semester was online, we also tried to come up with ideas to do online as well. Hence we came up with an idea of executing a mini art exhibition during one of the service days. First we sent an email to the teacher at RCCI that communicates with us and the teachers at RCCI.

This was done so that we could at least have some interaction with the kids at RCCI, as it would be a shame if we went any longer as an RCCI service group without having any contact with its members itself. So far, being a part of RCCI has been fun and something I am happy about doing. I feel as though it is a good cause and I genuinely enjoy being a part of this group. I hope that in Semester 2 we can maybe meet the kids and do some lessons at OSC or even at the RCCI center.

LO 4 – Similar to the coding experience, Service is one of my long-term goals for CAS and I wish to continue being in it as part of the service program at OSC. I have been uploading often to add updates of my service often in order to show my commitment to the service. I plan to become service leader and contribute new ideas to make the RCCI foundation thrive more, and for the kids to receive a place they can come to for enjoyment.

LO 5 – Through our meetings on zoom, I have seen the effects that working collaboratively can do for a group working towards the same goal. Each person pitches ideas and then we evaluate them as a whole in order to see how good it would be when implemented. Everyone receives a certain amount of constructive criticism, and we all contribute to the discussion in one way or another.
