The Faces

One of my CAS gaols has been to draw every week so I can produce and art piece every month. I have been doing small sketches in my sketch book. It has been a good creative outlet. Drawing can really help during these time at home. Art is something you can do to let out any emotions you have, negative or positive. Art can be such good way of expression.

Usually before an artwork I plan and set an intention and decided exactly what I envision for my piece. But for this one I decided not to. I chose my media which was oil pastels. I didn’t have any new ones so I used my old ones from many years ago. They didn’t work as well because of how old they were so I had to use msg fingers to spread the oil pastel. Which was very therapeutic and im glad that I did end up using my fingers. It gave me more control of where I was putting each colour.

To start out this piece I just to the colours to my fingers and started on the canvas. I didn’t know where was going with it and I liked that.i rarely get to do an unplanned art piece, because in visual arts you have to go through stages and plan and reflect. So I was glad I did this piece to see how unplanned art would go. I think it gives the Artis some freedom to paint or draw their initial raw thoughts. Once

Once I finished this piece i reflected about it in my head. I know it wasn’t perfect and it was an intentionally messy piece. But by doing this it made me realize some new skills and techniques I can put towards future art pieces, like using my hands and fingers to paint or work with. I also reflected on what I could improve on my next piece. If I were to do another piece with faces I want to do some studies on the face. I think that will really improve my skills for drawing or painting faces in my art. I tend to draw and sketch a lot of faces when i’m bored or in a creative mood so learning and improving that specific technique will be really beneficial. This is the piece I created… its called “different”.
