To engage with CAS during this DLP, I decided to do something that I’m less experienced with. During these hard times of a pandemic, cooking is something that brightens up my mood. I usually don’t cook so making the carrot rice helped me gain various new skills such as cooking and life skills. Throughout middle school, shows such as MasterChef Junior, Hell’s kitchen, Chopped and various other cooking shows inspired me and motivated me to cook. As I got older, I stopped cooking as I got busy with school and my social life. I’m excited to restart my cooking adventures this lockdown and make new dishes.
An error I made while making this dish was that I added more salt than necessary to the water so that’s something I’d like to improve on. In the future, I hope to learn more dishes and utilize my knowledge on cooking in college.
After helping my mom cook the carrot rice, I had an idea. I decided to donate some food to the homeless people sitting in front of a temple nearby. My mom and I packaged all the food in newspaper bags and handed it out with my dad! Not only did I gain skills on how to cook but also helped other human beings in a positive way. In overall, I had a lot of fun helping people and gained more knowledge on cooking and home skills today.
