OSC for Breast Cancer Awareness

As term 2 is starting, the Hope for Kids are still up and running with ideas for OSC, whether that’s to support the people in the hospitals we visit or to dress in a certain color. We had to go through changes (eg: cancelling a slideshow presentation for advisory), but we still manage to have events or spread awareness really well. In this blog, I’ll be talking about how we spread our message with breast cancer on 25th October.

Wearing Pink

Like what we did for Childhood Cancer Awareness, we picked 25th October as a selected day to have the OSC community to wear pink to show support of breast cancer awareness as “On Wednesdays, we wear pink” is a breast cancer awareness programme by the Indira Cancer Trust. Now we have the Instagram account unlike last month, I posted the poster that Anneli made on the account and some of us reposted it on our individual Instagram stories to get more people to be aware of what’s going on.

Giving Ribbons

We also decided to make ribbons and give them out for people who don’t have any pink in their wardrobe, but still would like to show support. This was really good as a lot of people (especially DP 2

Instagram Account

The Instagram account has grown more digitally as we now have 5 posts and 50 followers. I’m still the one in charge of that account even though I’ve asked my service leaders, Pep and Chirath many times on feedback whether it’s about the photo layout or the captions.
