Staying Active During DLP

For the past few weeks, I’ve made an attempt to maintain a regular workout routine. Since witching from face-to-face learning to DLP, I’ve found that I just sit in the same position for almost 7+ hours a day and it has taken a toll on me. While I would do the same thing in school, it’s the small commutes from the classroom to the locker area or walking up and down the stairs that make a difference. Being confined to the same 4 walls of my small room has caused me to become more lethargic and unmotivated. Because of this, I’ve forced myself to get up and move as much as I can. Walking up and down the stairs, stay standing instead of sitting down, or just walking around during the small breaks between classes.

In addition to this, I’ve made it mandatory for me to take an hour out of my day to be active, whether it’s walking my dog, going for a run, or even just doing a workout at home. Not only does this allow me to be physically active after being sedentary for hours, but it also lets me be outdoors and enjoying the fresh air. As well as the release of endorphins and adrenaline gives me enough motivation to tackle the rest of my day.

More recently, because of the weather, I’ve been doing my daily hour of activity at home. I’ve formed a workout that I enjoy doing, and I know will not worsen my knee injury. I’ve seen an improvement in my upper body strength since starting this workout and I plan to continue doing this workout even after school opens again.
