After-School Volleyball

With our final IB exams just around the corner, the stress levels of the DP 2 students have been at an all-time high. Hamda and I thought, as a way to unwind after an immensely stressful week it would be a good idea to play a game of volleyball for an hour or 2, on the field to release all tension.

We talked about it with a few other people and planned for the end of the week because we would have been done with all the week’s work by then. We went out onto the field with just a few people started with just a few people hitting the ball passing the ball to each other. However, as more and more people joined we were able to host full teams and play a proper game. The skill level varied across the teams. There were some highly experienced players and some who didn’t play volleyball but still enjoyed the game. The diversity experience was dispersed daily evenly across the two teams allowing for a fun game. Despite the fact that we were being competitive, we were also having fun and sharing banter in between plays.

The impromptu volleyball game was an enjoyable way to release a lot of tension and a fun way to socialize (socially distanced of course!)  with my other peers.

Learning Outcomes

LO1: Demonstrate how to initiate and play a CAS experience.

Hamda and I talked to a few other people about joining us in playing volleyball on a particular day, and then as we played more people came and left.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

Volleyball is a team sport and we had to work together as a team to pass the ball over. In the process, we had to encourage and support each other.
