Care for Paws is a service that gives a voice to the voiceless, stray animals, and stray dogs that can’t ask for help in Colombo, rely on groups like us to provide them with the care they need. This is why on the 16th of September 2023, Our service set up an annual fundraising event, which took place during the school’s ‘Welcome Back Picnic’. Our fundraiser was done to raise money for our future planned sterilization camp. All money put towards the camp will allow us to expand the capacity at which we can help target the stray animal problem in the city. Hence, we decided to sell drinks(Coke, Sprite, and iced tea), in contrast to the many other stalls that offered baked goods and food items.
the level of participation for all members of the service was organized, so that each member attending the “Welcome Back Picnic’ would have at least an hour of engagement with the stall to sell drinks for our cause. The groups were set up in pairs so that two members of our service would be at the stall working collaboratively to make sales. This was not a problem because our service members are all animal lovers and very passionate about helping. Their level of commitment to the cause is reflected in the profit we made from the event (Rs.33,000) along with many other donations. I think this event was successful in many ways, it challenged our service members to organize the logistics of planning an event such as this, and it also allowed everyone involved to grow closer together through collaboration.
