CAS Goals

Creativity

Currently, I am not involved in a lot of activity’s that involve creativity. Now that I am beginning my journey on the CAS program, I’ll be getting more involved and active in the creative aspect. For the next 2 years, I would like to get more involved in art.  To do this, I am thinking about making my own art pieces at home during my free time. This can be especially helpful with my mental wellbeing during the time of COVID-19. These art pieces at home can also be beneficial to improving my overall art skills as I am taking Visual Art as one of my DP classes. One short term goal that I have would be to learn a coding language. To achieve this, I will be partaking in a Harvard JavaScript Coding Course. This teaches me new skills that are especially beneficial for the future. As I am more of a sporty person, my overall goal is to pick up creative activities that’ll help me become more balanced.

Activity

Right now during the time of COVID-19 it is very uncertain if we will be able to partake in any SAISA sports. If the COVID-19 situation clears up and we’ve been allowed to play these sports, I’ll play both SAISA Volleyball and SAISA Football. Volleyball is a relatively new sport for me so I am eager to get back out onto the court and continue to improve my skills. Football is a sport that I’ve been playing since I was 5 years old. I love football and I’m honestly desperate to start kicking the ball around again after being at home for so long. I have also began playing tennis on Sundays with my dad. I would like to continue to play on Sundays and continue to improve my skills. Another goal that I have would be to improve my kitesurfing. I recently went kitesurfing for the first time and I really enjoyed so it would be nice to go back and get better when its the right season. However, if the country goes back into a lockdown, I have a gym at home that I’ll use to maintain fitness. I will also begin regardless of whether there is a lockdown or not. I’ve got a personal trainer that’ll help me along the way. Physical activity has nothing but benefits both for the mental and physical aspect of my body. Overall sports help deal with stress relating to school which is really important especially in the DP program.

Service

Last year before COVID-19, I was in RCCI for my school service. Going into this year, there is a lot of uncertainty if there will even be service. However, I have decided that I am making the switch to join Checkmates. Hopefully we are able to return to service as it helps teach us about a lot of global issues. With this goal, I hope to be able to improve my communication skills with the kids and my collaborative skills with my fellow service members. If the situation with COVID-19 does not clear up, I am not 100% sure what my goal will be. I think that I would like to do something related with volunteering in some kind of UN organization.

  1. Good, Kaalep, you have some clear goals for CAS this year. I hope that you will be able to complete some of them, due to COVID, but we shall see.
