During the 5th and 12th of November, the Housing and Habitat group worked with the OSC maintenance staff to construct two garden beds, one in the Secondary garden, and one in the Primary garden. The maintenance and architectural  staff taught us all we need two know about mixing mortar and lining up bricks efficiently and accurately to create functional and aesthetically pleasing  garden beds. These beds will allow a different service group; Ecoschools, to plant and grow vegetables. This is part of a much larger project of trying to reshape our friendly into a more environmentally friendly place, and becoming a role-model school in Sri Lanka, from an environmental perspective.

This activity was not only physically challenging, but It was also very educational.  I learned about basic construction skills like how to make concrete and how to make sure the bricks are lay evenly using a pipe filled with water and weights. It is nice also to give back to the osc community and I cant wait to see the garden beds in use.
