Spring Rolls!

Before the pandemic, I could make scrambled eggs, brownies from a box, pancakes, and grilled cheese sandwiches. As a teenager, I was very proud of this “accomplishment”. During this pandemic, however, I have expanded on my culinary skills and learned how to make a lot more. This could be due to the fact that for two months, my dad and I were stuck in an apartment together, or that school at 3 am in the US made my brother and me very hungry.  One of the recent reasons is that every Tuesday, I am in charge of dinner for my family. I have to put together a grocery list for what I need and make it after school. Last week, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and make one of my favorite foods, spring rolls. The process to make these was fairly simple, which surprised me. Here are the steps:

  1. make sure you have spring roll wraps, carrots, cabbage, veg of choice, soy sauce, and vinegar
  2. Chop or shred carrots and cabbage

3. Saute carrots and cabbage in soy sauce and vinegar

4. roll up the spring rolls

5. fan fry or place in a pot of hot oil to fry

6. eat and enjoy!

What surprised me the most about making these, was just how simple it was to create something yummy! Since the first time making these, I have made spring rolls two other times for my family and our friends.
