Last week we were given our CAS class block to do something related to either activity or creativity. As I had used the previous “free” block to walk my dog, I decided to do something creative.
Mindful coloring is something that I’ve been doing mainly out of boredness since around march when I was under strict lockdown in the Philippines. It’s very therapeutic and satisfying, as well as stress-relieving and I just like making up different color combinations in my head. I several sets of markers that range in color and thickness so depending on what I’m coloring, I use specific sets. For this day I used my regular thick markers and just dove into the creative activity.
Coloring is something that takes time (if you want the outcome to be pretty or look good) and focuses and so personally it helps me calm down and distracts me from anything that I’m overthinking or stressing out about. I didn’t finish my page in that class, but the fact that I had started a page encouraged me to return to it over the next few days to complete it. I really want to get back into this hobby of sorts especially with school and expectations becoming more stressful and important.
