Eleez’s Service So Far

My service situation is quite interesting, because, I am partaking in two service groups and am dividing my time accordingly. I am in both OSC’s Room to Read as well as EcoSchools. Room to Read is a service group that aims to provide good reading spaces for local schools in the area while making sure their literary education improves as well. In the past, we have held events like book drives and literary afternoons to raise funds and provide the students with an adequate supply of books as well as comfortable reading spaces in their schools. Due to lockdown and online school, our events have been very limited, what we did during this time was collect donations. Since now we have been doing school physically we have planned several events which are scheduled to happen within the next 1-2 months. Once we get back from WWW we have a book drive planned which will go from Feb 1st to the 28th (3 weeks). So far, during our service sessions, we have been working on publicising this event by making posters and finalising some of the logistical details. I was in Eco-Schools last year, and once again because of DLP, there was only so much action we could do. Last year we had made a comprehensive plan of prospective actions we could take to fulfil our goals. Similar to last year, this year all members have been allocated in several groups, there’s biodiversity, climate change, pollution, etc. In the last session we (M01 20 2022) worked on creating lists of tips we plan on sending out to the school. We also discussed the possibility of holding a biodiversity competition amongst our community members.
