My Final Books and Cookies – A Review

I had the pleasure of doing a book review, and my last ever books and cookies this Thursday. I have wanted to do one solo about a book I was really passionate about, so when Ms Lockwood asked people about their interest I was the first to put my hand up.

I have read many books throughout my life, yet not so much these past years as I focused on studies instead. Out of the few I read most of them weren’t that interesting, or I wouldn’t recommend them to a school audience. But then there was I Must Betray You. A book that captured my attention from the first page and consumed my every thought. I am a big fan of historical fiction and am not shy of a little romance. This book presented just that, the fall of a regime seen through the eyes of its people. This book not only informs people of a the fall of Communist Romania with accuracy, but also shows the people and their stories. These events didn’t just happen there was a build up to them, and in this book we see what pushed Romanians and gave them courage during this protest for their freedom.

The date of my books and cookies got pushed back a lot, initially planning to do it in February but doing it a whole 2 months later. I also had to balance my academics with preparing for the slides. I knew a lot of it would come naturally to me, I really love this book and have the passion to talk about it. However, I wanted to provide some context behind the book as it can be difficult for an audience to understand what I am talking about without knowing the socio-political context of the time. I created the slides on Canva to make it more visually appealing to my audience: Book Review – I Must Betray You

I enjoy recommending books to people because I like to match them up with their personalities and interests. That way I can ensure they will love this book. I think many people will enjoy this book because its within the genre of historical fiction but also will appreciate how it delves into genres such as romance without being overkill, the book has a good balance of it all. The presentation was recorded and can be seen below:
