Environment Day 2019

This year for the annual environment day hosted by the service group recycling and sustainability Mr. Lockwood, invited me to speak about the biogas plant project. This was my third step this year, after having implemented it at school and conducting the primary workshops to spread awareness about the issue. I was given two minutes to remind the school community of our project and the importance of waste separation. It was pressurizing for me mentally as I had to effectively spread the message of the importance of everyone’s job, in front of the whole school. Which was a challenging for me as I had a large amount of anxiety prior, ultimately making a risk taker as I took a step outside my comfort zone for an issue with heavy global importance. However, as the student leader for the bio gas plant project it was important that I did my part.

Irresponsible waste management and the ignorance towards the issue has lead us to this corner in which we can’t escape. The issue of global warming is heavily influenced by issues of this sort, and the overall pollution of our daily consumption. This global issue requires immediate action and people require constant reminders to do their part. Which makes days of this sort vital in effectively spreading the necessary message to the community. OSC has done a lot to help combat this issue and the effort only continues to grow across the community.

Below is the speech that presented the school community:
