Doga's CAS Journey

My extra-curricular activities at OSC

Football Training

Since the school is currently online, there are no school teams or SAISA. However football is my passion and a sport I have been playing for years, so in order to stay fit and be able to retain my skills, I have to train individually. Every week I go to a field and do my usual football drill and practice shooting or use my backyard to practice my

kicks.

  1. Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
  2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
  3. Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
  4. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

1) Strength & Growth
I have been playing football for four years, and i have developed and mastered many skills over the course of those years. However there is still a lot of room for improvement as I would like to play for a university team in the future. As a midfielder I have pretty good dribbling skills and passes however am not as good at kicks. To improve my kicks power and aim I will be training regularly so that my skills are better for next year or (if schools opens) this years football season.
2) Challenge & Skills
To be able to achieve the goals and skills I will undertake a challenge to train regularly and follow a strict muscle and practical training. The drills I will use my in game performance and kick aim/strengths are;
  • Competing for Goal
  • Turn and Shoot

  • Kicking the KeeperWhich I will need an extra peer to help me with, however for more of the individual workouts, I will train my leg muscles, specifically hamstrings, quads, and calf muscles. I will use the following workout for the first two weeks and increase the reps and weights every 2 weeks.
Legs (Calves, Glutes, Hip Flexors, Hamstrings & Quads) | Hamstring workout, Leg workouts gym, Leg workout
3) Initiative & Planning
Due to covid-19, I am not able to meet up with a team or a big group of people to play football with. However I can meet up with 1-3 people so that we can do football drills together, practice shooting and dribbling. Therefore I can plan or initiate practice meet ups with a few people on the weekends so that we can train and do the drills that require a few people to be present. So this way the skills I learn from individual trainings can be put to test and improved as a play and get feedback from others.
4) Commitment & Perseverance
I have been playing football for four years and I have been committed to this sport for a long time, and I plan on continuing to do so. Even though there might not be a school team season or football clubs, I will continue training and and maintain perseverance. I will use the field close to my house and my backyard to do so.
