In this blog I will share my experiences of the CAS component of the DP system. CAS stands for creativity, activity, and service and is an important part of the IB. I will participate in activities of each segment each semester and show my experiences, learning and challenges in posts throughout the following two years.

Creativity

In an order to complete the creativity aspect of CAS I will practice on  drawing and painting skills in an order to get better at art.  I will specifically focus on pencil drawings and acrylic/oil painting. My goal is to get my skills to a point where I can sketch a human figure without reference and paint without drawing an outline first. I am veery intrigued about art but I do not take art class so I would like to improve my skills outside of class.

Activity

As we are in currently doing online learning, and can not participate in team sports it is difficult for me to stay fit and be active. So to be able stay fit for when team sports start again (football and volleyball), I will be doing daily workouts focusing on HIIT workouts, speed and endurance workouts. My goal is to become more fit and be able to run 3 km’s without taking a break. Additionally, I will try to go to a field and play football with a friend to bee able to practice my new and already existing skills. Being able to achieve this goal will get me ready for next years sports season and help me to maintain my fitness skills.

Service

Since we are in quarantine it is very difficult to participate in community service or the service clubs we have available in school. Since interactions with people are very limited, I will be adopting a kitten from a shelter and looking after it. I will also feed the stay animals in my neighborhood consistently and even try to find homes for them. I will be messaging people who might be interested in adopting. So that these stay animals could have a home.

Conclusion I will try to meet these goals that I have created, but I will also engage in different activities outside of these goals and document them on my blog regularly. As there are many experiences that would fall under the CAS umbrella. I look forward to improving my skills and branching out to try new things in the course of these two years.
