Quarantine: CAS Edition
It has now been 2 1/2 months since the school closed down due to COVID-19. Since I can’t leave the house, and now have more time on my hands due to the Distance Learning Plan (DLP). I decided to use the extra time I have to still work on my Creativity, Activity and Service while this lockdown is happening.
Creativity
For me nothing much has changed for creativity, as I still am able to practice playing the piano, the only problem is that I can’t attend my classes. But I was able to solve that I asked my music teacher if I could send a video of me playing the piano and see what parts I need to improve on. Unfortunately there is another problem. In my previous piano post I have said that I would be taking a piano examination to test my reading and theory on October. But due to COVID-19 there is a chance that it would get postponed.
Service
Due to school closing there wasn’t that much that I could do in my home since I already convinced my parents to separate their trash into separate bins. But then I realized that service can be done in any form, such as doing the dishes and cleaning the house. So for the past 2 months I helped my mom do the dishes and clean the house everyday. I also helped my mom with her gardening, by watering the plants and planting some vegetables such as spinach, gotu kola and eggplants, I also collected some green milkweed climbers
Activity
Since I wasn’t able to attend my badminton classes for the past 2 months, I had to find other alternatives to stay fit. So my goal was to exercise at least 3 times a week. I start off by having a short 10 minute jog around my house as a warm-up which is then followed by a 5 minutes of stretching. I then do 3 sets of 6 pushups and a 1 minute plank. After that a minute of underarm shots and clears shadow matches with 3 minute breaks, this helps me improve on my agility. Overall these exercises would last approximately 30 minutes.
