On Saturday the 16th of April at 10.30 AM, a group of my friends and I met up at CLC basketball hub for a 2 hour basketball session. As there were 15 people, we split into 2 teams of 7 and 8 and our plan was to play two 5-a-side matches with the teams having either 2 or 3 subs who could be subbed on or off at any point.
The games that we played were 1 hour matches and the two scores for the matches were 14-21 and 17-21 respectively with my team winning both matches. While the fact that we played matches added a competitive element to how we played in the end we were just a group of friends playing basketball and towards the end of the 2nd match the game just phased into all of the players on the respective teams just taking shots from everywhere on the pitch. Overall it was an extremely fun experience and it felt good to get some excercise in on a Saturday morning.
Learning Outcomes:
Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth: During this basketball session I managed to identify areas where I was strong such as having quick and accurate passing however I learnt that there were also areas where I needed to improve such as having a higher shot arc and improving my layups.
Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process: Playing with a couple of people who I had never played agaisnt prior to Saturday meant that I learnt how to adjust to their playing style to ensure that my marking of them was satisfactory.
