On the first day of our DP 1 Orientation trip to Borderlands in Kitulgala, we had just floated down the river into our camp, after a long day out rafting, canyoning, and even eating at the canyon itself, we were tasked with writing a handwritten letter to someone really close to us and to write about our experience in Borderlands. Furthermore, we were told to write about what we learned while we were doing our activities.
Transcribed from the handwritten letter (September 28th, 2022)
“To Kulani and Prem,
Hey y’all! Hope Colombo is doing well! I’m having a good time in Kitulgala. We got to go rafting, which went really well! But with that, we learned about the river itself. For example, the different kinds of rapids and their formations! But one thing I realised while out at the river was how teamwork was a big aspect of canyoning. We were all there to lend a hand to anyone in doubt. I really hope that this trip will make us bond and trust each other more.”
There is something I wish I could have added to the letter, that it makes us realise that when doing something as a team, you can achieve greater things than doing it individually.
Short but sweet
