For the past three weeks I’ve been working on a lino print during art club. After scouring through pinterest for a few hours I decided to create a detailed dragon print. I used the following piece as a reference.
I created my own version of the piece, of course limiting myself to just line work. I wanted the focal point of the design to be the hard sharp edges of the wings and the curve of the tail. The drawing and transfer took one session (roughly an hour) and carving the print into the lino took approximately one and a half sessions. After I was happy with the plate I proceeded to create few watercolour backgrounds to print on.Out of the multiple prints I tried my favorites were the black and white print and the blue pink watercolour print. Although I did try several others most of them in my opinion were too saturated with ink and didn’t really allow the backgrounds I created to follow through. After the break I hope to use the few sessions I have left to fix that and create a few more pieces.
